Variations on a Theme

We here at the P & P Drinking Company like our oranges.  The color’s nice, the flavor is awesome, and we can pretend that citrusy equals healthy.  Plus, it’s completely refreshing on a hot summer day.

As such, we keep a bunch of components around and toss them together in various combinations, as the mood strikes us.  (Ouch!)

On the alcoholic side:

  • Three Olives Rangtang vodka
  • Svedka Clementine vodka
  • Stoli Ohranj vodka
  • Vanilla vodka (any premium brand will do)
  • Cointreau

On the mixer side:

  • Izze sparkling clementine juice
  • tonic
  • club soda
  • orange juice
  • water with lemon
  • Polar orange dry soda (found in New England)

It’s really hard to go wrong with these ingredients.  Yesterday, we had vanilla vodka, Rangtang, & tonic on the veranda, and it was delightful.

Trust us on this.  (But feel free to chime in with any of your favorites.)

This was the debut cocktail for the P & P Drinking Company….the one that started it all.   Hopefully, you’ll enjoy it as much as we have, do, and will continue to.

The Rangtang(TM) Sunset

4 parts Three-O® Rangtang Orange Flavored Vodka
1 part Cointreau®
2 tbs lemon juice
2 tbs lime juice
1 splash cranberry juice [for color]

Shake with ice till frothy, bi-coastal & sunset-ish in color, and strain into a chilled martini glass.
Warning: shade may vary with specific time of day, current planetary alignment & prevailing political climate.

Cherry Berry Lemon Fizz™

Here’s a thirst-quenching summer sensation with the light southern comforts of cherry lemonade and cranberry sunshine – with the deceptively strong kick of Svedka® Vodka.

RECIPE

3 oz. Svedka® Cherry Vodka (or similar cherry infused premium vodka)
4 oz. filtered water
2 oz. sparkling cranberry juice (alternatively, 2 splashes of cranberry juice & 2 oz. seltzer)
Juice of 1/4 lemon
1/4 cup of ice

Add ice to a high ball glass. Stir vodka, water and juices to a yummy, chilled and candy-flavored goodness.

Potential garnish:  a thick slice of lemon and dark Morello cherries.

(And really?  “Juice of 1/4 lemon”?  Use the whole lemon and make a pitcher instead.)

Trust us on this.

Welcome!

This is the blog of the P & P Drinking Company.  Here’s our official statement:

The P & P Drinking Company is an intellectual East Coast drinking duo.  Focusing on rather obscure, novel approaches to the art of drinking, the PPDC defines their mission as the  preservation and promotion of public confidence in alcoholic options and cocktail construction.

Look for more fun stuff coming soon….
